Adrian Griffin was born on July 4, 1974, in Wichita, Kansas. He played college basketball at Seton Hall University, where he was named Big East Player of the Year in his senior year. After going undrafted in the 1996 NBA Draft, Griffin played professional basketball in Europe for a few years before signing with the Boston Celtics in 1999.
Griffin played for the Celtics for two seasons before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2001. He played four seasons in Dallas, where he was a valuable role player off the bench, known for his defense and toughness. Griffin then played for the Houston Rockets and the Chicago Bulls before retiring in 2008.
After his playing career, Griffin became a coach, starting as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2008. He later worked as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, and Toronto Raptors before being hired as the head coach of the Toronto Raptors' G League affiliate, the Raptors 905, in 2018. In 2020, Griffin was promoted to an assistant coach position with the Toronto Raptors, where he currently works.
