Alec Burks is a professional basketball player who was born on July 20, 1991, in Grandview, Missouri. Burks played college basketball at the University of Colorado before being selected 12th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2011 NBA draft.
Burks spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Utah Jazz, where he became known as a versatile guard who could score in a variety of ways. He had a breakout season in 2013-14, where he averaged 14 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 45.7% from the field.
In November 2018, Burks was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team deal. He played 34 games for the Cavaliers before being traded to the Sacramento Kings in February 2019.
Burks joined the Golden State Warriors for the 2019-20 season, signing a one-year deal. He was a key reserve for the Warriors, providing scoring punch off the bench and averaging 15 points per game before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2020.
Burks signed a one-year deal with the New York Knicks prior to the 2020-21 season. He had a solid season with the Knicks, averaging 12.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 41.5% from the field.
In August 2021, Burks re-signed with the Knicks on a three-year, $30 million contract. He has continued to play an important role for the team, providing scoring and playmaking off the bench.
