Adam Morrison was born on July 19, 1984, in Glendive, Montana, and grew up in Spokane, Washington. He attended Gonzaga University, where he played college basketball and quickly became one of the top players in the country. During his sophomore and junior years, Morrison led the nation in scoring and was named the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Year by multiple organizations.

After three successful years at Gonzaga, Morrison declared for the NBA draft in 2006 and was selected as the third overall pick by the Charlotte Bobcats. He signed a multi-year contract with the team but struggled to find his place in the NBA. Morrison's lack of athleticism and defensive ability were seen as major liabilities, and he had difficulty adapting to the faster pace and physicality of the professional game.

Morrison played for the Bobcats for two seasons, averaging 11.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in his rookie year but then seeing his numbers decline in his second season.
