Admiral Schofield was born on March 30, 1997, in London, England. He grew up in Zion, Illinois, and played high school basketball at Zion-Benton Township High School. After graduating in 2015, Schofield attended the University of Tennessee, where he played college basketball for four years.

During his time at Tennessee, Schofield established himself as a strong and versatile player. He played in 132 games, averaging 10.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He also shot 38.7% from beyond the arc, showing his ability to knock down shots from long range. Schofield helped lead the Volunteers to the NCAA Tournament in each of his final two seasons, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2019.

Following his college career, Schofield was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 42nd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, he was immediately traded to the Washington Wizards, where he spent the 2019-2020 season.

Schofield struggled to find consistent playing time during his rookie season, appearing in just 33 games and averaging 3.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. He was assigned to the G League's Capital City Go-Go multiple times throughout the season to get more playing time and development opportunities.
