Ahmad Caver is a relatively unknown name in the history of the NBA. There has only been one player named Ahmad Caver who has played in the NBA, and he has had a very limited professional basketball career thus far.
Ahmad Caver was born on December 30, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia. He played high school basketball at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, where he was a standout point guard. After graduating from Oak Hill in 2015, Caver attended Old Dominion University, where he played for four years and became the program's all-time assist leader.
After going undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft, Caver signed with the Memphis Grizzlies to play in the NBA Summer League. He played in three games for the Grizzlies, averaging 1.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 12.3 minutes per game. However, he was waived by the Grizzlies before the start of the regular season.
Caver then signed with the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies' G League affiliate, for the 2019-20 season. He played in 29 games for the Hustle, starting 12 of them, and averaged 9.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 24.1 minutes per game.
In February 2020, Caver was traded from the Hustle to the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks' G League affiliate, in exchange for Cameron Reynolds. Caver played in seven games for the Herd, starting four of them, and averaged 6.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 22.7 minutes per game.
Caver's professional basketball career was put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the G League season was cancelled in 2020-21. However, Caver did sign with BC Nokia in Finland for the 2020-21 season, where he played in 22 games and averaged 12.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
As of now, Ahmad Caver has not been signed by an NBA team for the 2021-22 season, but he continues to play professionally overseas. Despite not having a significant NBA career yet, Caver is still a young player with plenty of potential and could potentially earn another shot with an NBA team in the future.
