There have been two players named Alan Williams in the NBA history.
Alan Williams (born January 28, 1993) is a 6'8" center who played college basketball at UC Santa Barbara. He went undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft but was signed by the Houston Rockets for the 2015 NBA Summer League. He spent the 2015-16 season playing in China before returning to the Rockets for the 2016 NBA Summer League. In September 2016, Williams signed with the Phoenix Suns and played two seasons with the team. In 2018, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets but was waived shortly thereafter. He then played for Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia and the Qingdao Eagles in China before returning to the NBA in 2020 with the Brooklyn Nets. Williams is known for his rebounding ability and high-energy play.
Alan Williams (born October 18, 1967) is a 6'7" forward who played college basketball at Xavier. He was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 1991 NBA draft. He played three seasons in the NBA, all with the Sonics, and also played for the Quad City Thunder in the CBA and for teams in Spain, France, and the Philippines. Williams was known for his defensive intensity and rebounding, and he won the CBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 1992.
Off the court, both Alan Williams have been involved in charitable work. The younger Williams has been active in community service projects in Phoenix, including hosting basketball camps for kids and working with organizations that support children with cancer. He has also been an advocate for mental health awareness and has spoken publicly about his own struggles with depression.
