During his time at Valparaiso, Peters was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year and a three-time First-Team All-Horizon League selection. He finished his college career with a total of 2,348 points, 1,126 rebounds, and 138 assists.

After his impressive college career, Peters was selected 54th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. He spent his rookie season with the Suns, playing in 20 games and averaging 4.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game.
